Once I let Windows install whatever driver is on WU, the freezes occur on the next reboot and each and every other boot attempt that loads the driver. Yes, I use it a lot on Windows 8.1 but that's not the case as the previous driver is the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.Īfter Windows goes out of OOBE it installs the Catalyst driver automatically if it has a internet connection, otherwise it will use the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. There is no previous Catalyst driver installed, no way DDU is going to help here.
I am talking about the entire system freezing at first boot after a fresh install, it sometimes reacts to the reset button, other times it requires the power button to be held down for 5 seconds. I installed Catalyst 15.7 for Windows 10, same story.Īnybody else encountered this issue and has a solution for it? A known working driver from the older sets or a workaround? To make matters worse, even if I remove the driver in safe mode the stupid automated updates will install the driver from Windows Update (15.200.1023.7) as soon as a connection to internet is established and the system hangs during the install. I can boot in safe mode or in low resolution mode, all works fine with the basic MS driver but once I try to boot normally with the AMD driver, the system hangs. At the first reboot the system hangs before the login screen appears, every time. I can install a Windows 10 圆4 build with no issues, boot into it, WU installs the video card driver and all works well until the first reboot after this driver install. Even the latest builds, 10162, 1010 are affected.
Ever since the Windows 10 builds moved into the 10000 build number range and the new Catalyst drivers were deployed on Windows Update I started to get hangs on boot, when Windows switches the display mode from the basic driver to the AMD one.
